Katarzyna Korytowska, a Polish native, is an accomplished artist with a unique blend of training in fine arts and architecture. She honed her skills over eight years, attending both the University of Poznań and the Poznań Academy of Art, specializing in interior design. This dual background allows her to seamlessly integrate artistic expression with practical functionality, creating captivating art that enhances living spaces.
Even in her early career, Katarzyna's talent was undeniable. While at art school, her innovative and captivating works quickly gained attention. One of her very first collections sold out entirely, providing the impetus for her to continue pushing creative boundaries. Her success as a young architect and artist in Poznań led to a significant honor in 1993: she was selected as one of Poland's cultural representatives to attend the prestigious Prince's Trust Foundation in London, England. This was a pivotal moment, marking her as one of Poland's most promising young artists.
After years of successfully running her own architectural firm in Poland, Katarzyna embarked on a new journey, moving to Michigan, United States, in 1997. She quickly established herself in the Metro Detroit area, working with some of the most recognized architectural agencies and dedicating long hours to designing commercial spaces and hospitals. However, the demands of her architectural career left little time for her true passion: painting.
The economic slowdown in 2006 presented a turning point. As architectural work became more challenging, Katarzyna seized the opportunity to return to painting full-time. She began experimenting with techniques, ultimately discovering a profound passion for creating unique and unreproducible textures on canvas. Over several years, she meticulously perfected her "Lace Texture" collection, exploring the interplay of color, texture, and light in ways that are truly distinctive.
Today, Katarzyna primarily focuses on commissioned work, collaborating with numerous local interior designers to create art that perfectly complements and completes interior spaces. Her pieces are not merely decorative; they are integral elements that enhance both the aesthetics and the feel of a room. In between commissions, she continues to develop her private collections, which are regularly showcased in galleries across Michigan. She expresses profound gratitude for the ability to dedicate herself fully to her artistic passion.
